Andropogon gerardii ‘Karl’s Cousin’
A refined, upright cultivar of the native tallgrass known for its architectural presence without the bulk or tendency to flop. Selected for its narrow, columnar form, this cultivar remains tidy even as it reaches toward 6-7 feet in bloom. The basal foliage begins as a cool blue-green and gradually deepens to richer purple-blue hues through the season, with the flower stems and seed heads echoing those tones. In summer, it produces showy inflorescences that add texture and subtle color to prairie-style plantings or mixed borders. In autumn, its tones deepen further, offering compelling fall interest. Use it as a vertical accent, in masses for movement and texture, or as a backdrop for shorter perennials.
