Iris sibirica ‘Ruffled Velvet’
A refined and striking garden perennial known for its rich, velvety blooms and elegant foliage form. In late spring to early summer, each stem carries 2 to 5 flowers whose standards are a deep red-purple, while the falls are darker and luxuriantly ruffled, elegantly contrasted by a yellow blaze at their base. Rising above a vase-shaped clump of blue-green, grasslike blades, the flowering stems bring vertical impact. After flowering, the foliage continues to offer texture through the summer and beyond.
