Rose, Shrub, Western Wild Rose

Commonly known as Woods’ Rose, it is a rugged and beautiful native shrub that brings seasonal charm and ecological value to a landscape. In late spring through early summer, it adorns itself with singles of pink to lavender blooms, often in small clusters at the tips of branches. These flowers are fragrant and attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Following the blooms, the plant produces plentiful red hips (rose fruit), which persist into winter and become a food source for birds and wildlife. The hips are also valued for human use- drying into teas, jellies, and other culinary applications.
