Tree Peony, Xi Ri Yue

Paeonia x suffruticosa or tree peonies are beloved garden plants in both Western and Asian horticultural traditions though the history of cultivation in China dates back thousands of years and in Japan to about a thousand years embedding this plant in their rich traditions and cultures.
Tree peonies are woody shrubs that produce large, gorgeous flowers in spring in a much wider range of colours than the herbaceous garden peonies. ‘Xin Ri Yue’ / ‘Ri Yue Jin’ has large, fragrant, double rosy-red flowers with yellow stamens.
It is a Chinese Central Plains cultivar.
Provide good soil drainage.
In zone 4 (and perhaps 5 to be safe), wrap to protect from cold temperatures, winter desiccation, and freeze-thaw cycles.  #2 gallon
