Syringa reticulata ‘Ivory Silk’
Sturdy, more compact, oval growth habit than standard Japanese Tree Lilac.
Flowers when young with large creamy white 10-12” long flower plumes in late June or early July.
Ideal for a small yard.
Attractive cherry-like bark.
Fragrant, musky-scented blooms. Attracts birds & butterflies.
Requires adequate drainage; drought tolerant once established.
Non-suckering. Avoid high nitrogen fertilizer.
If pruning is desired it is best done right after flowers are spent (although it does bloom on new wood); also remove spent blooms so tree puts its energy into growth and setting flower buds for next year rather than producing seed.
