Humulus lupulus ‘Cascade’
A vigorous perennial vine (a climbing plant that twines using stiff hairs) known for both its ornamental appeal and its role in brewing. Each spring, new shoots emerge from its underground rhizome and climb rapidly up supports, reaching heights of 12 to 15 feet by mid-late summer. The foliage consists of dark green, deeply lobed leaves that form a dense screen on trellises, pergolas, or fences- quickly covering unsightly structures. In summer, the plant produces clusters of pale green to yellow-green inflorescences (hop cones) on female plants. These cones have a pleasantly aromatic citrus / floral character and are highly sought after in brewing.
